How Many DIYs Can I Make Using Only What I Have At Home?

I was really excited for this post. I had been perusing Pinterest for a few DIY ideas for another post, and I realized that there were many DIYs that I'd have to go to the store to make. So I decided to keep looking and make a list of some I wanted to do. Then I tried doing them using only what I had at home. On top of this, I made it a rule that I could not look up any directions or instructions. The projects actually turned out very well.

For the first project, I took some small glass jars, and painted them. I added a coat of spray paint to three of the jars, hoping to get a more modern look. I used 120 grit sandpaper to lightly distress the other ones. I really liked the distressed ones.

The next DIY was actually just making something look nicer for my mom. I took an old tray, and painted the inside of it a warm grey. Then I painted the border/handles white, and distressed that with sandpaper as well.

This DIY was literally just spray painting something, and then painting some frames. I used some funky cabinet handles that my parents were done with, spray painted them, and hung them on my wall. They made absolutely perfect frame holders. I ended painting the frames to go in them  while I was making these, because I needed to paint them at some point.

Using some wood leftover from a woodshop project that I did at home, I made two more projects. The first is a cutting board. I just glued two pieces of wood together in a butt joint, sanded it, and then sealed it with a cutting board oil. I really like the sort of color block feel that it has.

The second project is a hanging shelf. I put this next to my bed, which is about five feet off the ground. Still using leftover wood, I glued two thinner pieces together. Then I drilled a hole in each corner. I pulled the rope through, making sure that it is looped. Then I put a hook in the ceiling (Make sure you use an anchor!) to hang it from.

This post was so much fun to do! (Though, I used some DIYs saved for birthday presents) I hope that you guys really enjoy it. If you make anything inspired by these, leave me a comment!
